This is part of the AMTRAK Service and Inspection Yard and Car Shop, which is south of Chicago Union Station. Prominent in the left center are two bridges: the St. Charles Air Line Bridge and the Baltimore & Ohio Chicago Terminal (B&OCT) Bridge, shown here before it was raised and locked in position, with its enormous counterweights. These are bascule bridges. Just right of center in the background is part of the vertical-lift railroad bridge that accommodates AMTRAK trains over the South Branch of the Chicago River.
